Tokyo Ghoul

Hey guys, Kennie here! I’m going to be talking about my favorite anime today! Have any of you guys heard of Tokyo Ghoul? I found it after episode eight came out and had binge watched it that day and was hooked!  I absolutely love this anime!

In Tokyo Ghoul, ghouls are creatures that look and act like humans but must eat human flesh in order to survive. They cannot survive eating anything; if they do they become violently ill and it can mess up their digestive system. When they get hungry, their eyes turn black with red irises and they have kagune they can use to defend and capture their prey with.

This series follows Ken Kaneki after he gets attacked and turns into a half ghoul, half human hybrid. This anime is a Psychological Horror that utilizes the fact that everything is only being taken at face value. Ghouls eat humans therefore ghouls are evil; they have no humanity or emotions and must be destroyed. Kaneki meets many people, both human and ghoul, along his journey that try to both harm and help him. Since he is the only one living between both worlds, he is conflicted on who is right and who is wrong.

Tokyo Ghoul Kaneki and HideWhen I first started watching this anime I didn’t immediately think it was amazing or get hooked. I actually kept watching it because I was bored and had nothing else to do plus I had absolutely fallen in love with Hide, Kaneki’s best friend. I did watch all eight episodes in one day though and as soon as I hit episode 6, that’s when things started to pick up more and I started getting into the “must finish now” funk. I had fallen in love with all the characters and all of their stories. This is a very good and well made show, with it’s backstory and constant questioning of who is right and who is wrong.

Have you guys seen this anime? If you have what did you think of it? And because I’m a curious person, who do you guys think was right or wrong? Let me know in the comments below!!!
