11 Years with FTISLAND

Happy 11 years to one of my favorite groups, FTISLAND!!! 🎉🎉🎉

Debuting in 2007 with the song ‘Love Sick’, they quickly rose to popularity and topped Kpop charts for 8 consecutive weeks. Cheerful Sensibility would go on to become the sixth

FTISLAND

best selling album in 2007 and the boys won Best New Male Group in the Mnet Asian Music Awards and the Popularity and Newcomer Awards in the Golden Disk Awards.

One year later, FTISLAND debuted in Japan with the EP Soyogi. The album saw slow sales and limited popularity. It wouldn’t be until their third album, Five Treasure Island, that the boys would see success in Japan. This album hit number 1 in chart ranking sales and would see them as the first Foreign Male band to top the Oricon Daily Charts in 42 years.

2009 saw main rapper and guitarist Wonbin leave the group. He would later be replaced by Seunghyun. The next few years saw the boys acting in various dramas such as You’re Beautiful, The Road Home, Prince of Prince, The Flatterer, Investigator Alice, and Bride of the Century. Hongki released his solo album in Korea and Japan in November and December of 2015 respectively.

FTISLAND revitalized Korean pop and is credited as being the first major idol band to hit the scene. Recently, they released Planet Bonds, their 8th Japanese album. In the coming years, the boys will be enlisting in the military as Jonghun and Hongki are both 1990s, Jaejin is a 1991, and Minhwan and Seunghyun are 1992s. However, all of them have expressed the desire to enter together.
