My first kpop concert was back in November of 2016 when I saw CL at the Chicago Theater. I had only been into kpop for around a month so I didn’t really know a whole lot about it then, but I liked the sound of ‘Hello Bitches’ so I figured….why not? The name of the tour sounded fun and boy how right I was!
I didn’t know a thing about 2NE1 at that time but I still jammed along while CL belted out some of their top hits. CL just has a way that she connects with her fans and brings you into her excitement and passion whether you’ve been with her since the beginning or you’re just starting out. Even though I was really new to the scene, I still felt like I was part of the crowd and the atmosphere touched me on a deeper level.
Then the moment I had been waiting for happened………I heard the only song I had any knowledge of. The first chords of ‘Hello Bitches’ blasted through the room and the hype was unlike anything I had felt before. I was jumping to the beat, screaming song lyrics, and losing my voice for the only song I had heard before.
Walking out of the venue later that night, I knew that I wanted to look into CL and 2NE1 more. I wanted to see what they were all about and really get to know their music so I proceeded to buy any song that I could remember hearing at the concert from iTunes when I got home. I’m fairly certain that was the only thing I listened to for a solid week after……the PCD was bad!
CL is such a genuine, beautiful, and heartfelt person; she really cares for every one of her fans and her passion and love for performing is palpable. She has this aura about her that just draws you in and makes you want to be part of her story and that’s so rare to see from artists now. As soon as I saw her come on stage and heard her performing, I knew that she was something special. I’ve always looked back fondly on that concert because of all the great memories I was able to make and the new experiences I had. My only regret is that I didn’t take any videos >.> Shout out to the fan who recorded the videos down below!
Did any of you guys attend the tour? What did you think about the performance?
