Jackson Wang (Wang Jia Er / Wang Ka Yee (王嘉爾) was born March 28, 1994, in Hong Kong, China. He has one older brother and his parents are both professional athletes. Growing up Jackson fenced and was part of the Hong Kong National Fencing team. He went to the Olympics in 2010 (though his team lost). But in 2011, he won 1st place in the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championship. Even though he was a great athlete, Jackson had a larger passion for music.

During that time, he participated in Mnet’s Who Is Next (W.I.N) (2013) and would then go on to make his debut with GOT7 on January 16, 2014. (Congrats to GOT7 for making 5 years!) as the Lead Rapper, Lead Dancer, and Sub-Vocalist. Aside from being part of GOT7, Jackson is a solo artist. He founded his own agency in China (Hong Kong) called Team Wang and made his solo debut on August 25th, 2017 with an English song called “Papillon”. He then went on to release his 2nd solo single called Okay in late 2017.
Jackson is known for his outgoing and energetic personality which earned him the nickname Wang Puppy. He brings life to wherever he goes and can make any situation a good one. He is known for his appearances on Korean reality TV and variety shows, but also for his big friend group that includes f(x)’s Amber, RM from BTS, EXO’s Lay, Monsta X’s Jooheon, and Luhan.
