Ailee: Korea’s Beyoncé

Ailee was born Amy Lee in Denver, Colorado on May 30, 1989.  Growing up in New Jersey, she went to Palisades Park High School before ultimately graduating at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.  She would later drop out of Pace University, where she studied communications, to pursue her career in music.

She signed with Muzo Entertainment here in the States and worked with artists such as Johnnyphlo and Decipher.  In 2010, she moved to South Korea and was signed to YMC Ailee Curly HairEntertainment as a trainee.  Two years later saw Ailee debuting with her hit song “Heaven”, a song she would release a short year later in Japan with Warner Music Japan.

“I Will Go To You Like the First Snow” was released in early 2017 for a South Korean television series and this song saw her popularity soaring.  She achieved a Perfect All-Kill and a Triple Crown and the song would hit number 1 on all South Korean music sites.  Ailee is also famous for her many English covers, my personal favorite being “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston.

Also in 2017, Ailee officially debuted in America with the single “Fall Back.” In America, she goes by the stage name A.Leean.
