Chungha: Queen of Collaborations

Chungha, the sassy queen that brought us Snapping, has also been the queen of collaborations. Besides her role in I.O.I, she’s worked with Choi Yoo-jung, Jeon Somi, and Ki Huihyeon in the sweet and refreshing song “Flower, Wind and You”. The song brings about the warm thoughts and sweet embrace of spring to your senses.

She also worked with Heo Jungeun and Halo’s Ooon on the song “Snow in this Year” which was used in the Korean drama “My Fair Lady”. This song is fun and sweet, something that really fit the atmosphere of this wonderful drama.
Chungha was then chosen to participate in a group project with Red Velvet’s Seulgi, (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon, and Gfriend’s SinB to make a collaboration group, called Station Young, which was to be featured on SM Entertainment’s special album SM Station X 0. The girls have released their song Wow Thing and Be Mine, which show the versatile voices and stylings of these amazing young women.

Recently, Chungha has balanced out the sweet vocals of Super Junior’s Yesung in the cute and flirty track “Whatcha Doin”, bringing out both artists’ playful sides in this song about the nervousness in just calling up someone they like to just hear their voice.

Even with the release of her own solo music, she proves that she is a musical force to be reckoned with. Just three days ago, her collaboration with solo artist Grizzly (he has a phenomenal voice. If you haven’t heard of him, go check him out!) with the song “Run”. The free feeling summer track embraces the restless spirit of youthfulness. That desire to just put your trust in another and just keep driving with no destination in mind. That open freedom of just being.

Chungha has proven to be quite diverse in her style and presentation through these collaborations. It’s no wonder that she has developed such a large following of fans. She can embody the music of every person’s tastes. I look forward to seeing who else gets to work with the fiery soloist.
