Jessica Ho (Ho Hyun-ju) was born December 17, 1988 in the Year of the Dragon to Korean immigrants in New York. She was raised in New Jersey until she moved to Korea at the age of 15 where she would attend the same school as Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany and Jessica.
Jessi was a trainee at SM Entertainment but she left before she could debut because she felt SM didn’t suit her musical style. She officially debuted as solo artist Jessica H.O on December 1, 2005 with the album “Get Up”. One year later she replaced Yoonmirae in hip-hop group Uptown; they debuted in May of that year. Jessi released her second solo album in 2009 then took a five year break in America.
The years following her hiatus were quite busy as she joined YMC Entertainment in 2014 as a member of Lucky J, participated in the first season of Unpretty Rapstar in 2015, and joined the first season of Sister’s Slam Dunk and their project group Unnies in 2016. She would go on to release her first mini album and sixth digital single before leaving YMC Entertainment and ultimately signing with P Nation on January 24, 2019. She’s already released two singles under PSY’s new label.
Throughout her career, Jessi has collaborated with talented artists such as Flowsik, DJ H.ONE, Monsta X, Microdot, and Dumbfoundead. She’s also been featured in a lot of songs, some of which include songs by Jay Park, The Quiett, Heize, J.Y. Park, RM, Paloalto, Avatar Darko, Sik-k, and Ted Park. Jessi has even done a few OSTs!
