Eric Nam was born November 17, 1988 in Atlanta, Georgia and is the oldest of three children. Eric graduated from The Lovett School in 2007 then went on to Boston College where he graduated cum laude with a major in International Studies in 2011. He spent a year at Peking University in Beijing before coming back to America to be a business analyst. Eric spent some time in India working before he decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
Posting song covers on Youtube was what first got Eric noticed in Korea. MBC heard his cover of 2NE1’s Lonely and were so impressed that they invited him to participate in “Birth of a Great Star 2”. The show, similar to X-Factor, saw Eric rising in popularity and after 8 months, he placed among the top 5 and and began his career in Korea.
Debuting on January 23, 2013 with “Cloud 9”, Eric’s next few years were busy as he collaborated with artists like Amber, 15&’s Jimin, and Red Velvet’s Wendy. Eric has also had a successful television career! He hosted After School Club for three years and he’s hosted and performed on SNL Korea. He’s also appeared in We Got Married and The Friends in Costa Rica. Eric also has his own podcast called The Daebak Show.
Eric’s first U.S. single, Into You, was released on June 10, 2016 and was a collaboration with electronic band KOLAJ. Eric embarked on his first North American tour in 2017 and in November 2019 he released his first full English album called “Before We Begin”. Currently traveling on his second tour, Eric has big things planned for NamNation this year!
