Jessica: An Inspiration

Jessica Jung was born April 18, 1989 in San Francisco, California. Her and her sister, Krystal, were spotted by a member of SM Entertainment in a shopping mall during a Jessicafamily vacation to South Korea. In 2000, she joined the company and from there, her inspirational story would begin.

After training for seven years, Jessica joined Girls’ Generation. Throughout the next several years, she participated in many activities with the group, several collaborations with artists such as 8eight, Super Junior, Onew, and Park Myung-soo, and made her acting debut in a variety of TV shows and movies.

Blanc & Eclare, Jessica’s very own fashion line, was established in August of 2014 and has now opened over sixty stores worldwide. Just one month later, she was asked to leave Girls’ Generation by the company and the members and this was arguably one of the best things that could’ve happened for her as her career soared in the next few years.

In 2015, she officially parted ways with SM Entertainment and signed with Coridel Entertainment a year later.  In May of that year, her first EP entitled With Love, J was released.  It featured six songs, four of which Jessica composed.  With Love, J charted first on the Hanteo Weekly Chart and Gaon Weekly Album Chart.  She embarked on her first fanmeet tour after the EP was released then stunned fans with her December EP entitled Wonderland.

2017 brought Jessica a new digital single, her third EP, and another tour.  But perhaps most notable was her inclusion on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia 2017 list.  In 2018 she signed with United Talent Agency who would represent her in her North American music, film, TV, and endorsements.  In the fall of this year, Jessica will be releasing her debut young adult novel, Shine, in which she draws from personal experiences and showcases a young Asian-American girl trying to make it big in the kpop world.  Despite not being release yet, it has already been sold in 11 foreign territories and is in the process of being adapted for film.

You can follow Jessica on Instagram and YouTube and if you’re interested in Blanc & Eclare, check out their website and Instagram! Make sure to stay tuned with us this week as we tell Jessica’s truly inspirational story.
