In 2016, Hwasa and Moonbyul teamed up for “Dab Dab” and it is probably my favourite of her collaborations with other artists. This song is everything I love about MAMAMOO: it’s fun, jazzy, and flirty with a touch of sexy. I can’t help but to bounce around and laugh every time I listen to this song.
The next two songs, “Love Comes” with Esna released in 2017 and “Don’t” with Loco released in 2018 have more of a groovy style. They almost make me think of being on a beach and laying in the sun without a care in the world.
2019 brought “In the Fall” with Woogie and “Loving One Person” with Wheein. As I’m sure you can imagine, “Loving One Person” is about two people who are in love with the same person. Hwasa and Wheein sound so sweet and ethereal together and their vocals really add an extra touch of emotion to the lyrics. They honestly couldn’t have found a better duo to sing this.
Hwasa also sang the second OST “Orbit” for The King: Eternal Monarch. This drama ran for 16 episodes earlier this year and featured Lee Min-ho, Kim Go-eun, Woo Do-hwan, Kim Kyung-nam, Jung Eun-chae, and Lee Jung-jin in its cast. The King: Eternal Monarch is about the modern day Emperor of the Kingdom of Corea, Lee Gon, tries to cross into an alternate reality where the Kingdom of Korea exists instead.
